Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

When I make monster socks I use the mini mast to make two row stripes easy. Here is close-up.
I grabbed some blues and made these great monster socks. What are monster socks? That is when I use three, or more, different yarns to make a pair of wonderfully scrappy socks. This pair uses four different yarns including a tweedy blue (Knit Picks Stroll Tweed), a fun stripe (Knit Picks Felici), a second striping yarn (Knit Picks Stroll), and a blue and green ombre (Cascade Heritage Wave). They can out so much better than I imagined.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

The latest pair of cranky socks. These were made with Activ yarn I bought from CSM Supplies. I wish I had all the colors.

On our short trip north I finished up the socks from last week. This pair of monster socks. This is how I Kitchener stitch the toes closed. First I transfer to live stitches onto a pair of short circulars, then Kitchener as one would any pair of socks. There are other ways to do this. This is just the way I am most comfortable.
And this pair made with some more Activ yarn. I gifted a ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was in the mood for some monster socks. I grabbed this purple Knit Picks Stroll and this fun Knit Picks Felici and got cranking.
I added contrast heels in electric blue along with some other leftovers from other socks. Every pair of monster socks is unique and I love that. I'm not even close to running out of leftovers to make more.
After making the monster socks I took a break (monster socks take almost twice a long as socks made with a single yarn) from the concentration of monster socks and made a simple pair of cocks ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Even though they aren't done when they come off the machine I feel like I've accomplished something. these were made with six different yarns. Some Knit Picks Stroll, Knit Picks Felici, a couple leftover bits from Knit Picks Stroll I dyed myself, and some Cascade. They all came together to create these delightful socks.
Kitchener stitching the toes closed takes less time than it does to watch a single episode of  Death in Paradise. I think I'll add these to my Etsy shop the next time I do a shop update.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I saw an Instagram post by Knitterly Things for a sock yarn of the month club available for the next three months. I've never participated in a sock yarn club and I have a great pair of socks made with Knittrely Things yarn that I love. Sounded perfect. I signed up and paid for the three months.
I signed up to get a coordinating little hank for heels and toes. Aren't these colors delightful?
I wound my yarn into cakes, set up my machine and got cranking.
In no time I had an almost finished pair of socks ...

Remade Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I knit this pair of socks in November of 2019. The last time they came out of the wash one sock had a hole. I could mend the sock, or rip them both out and knit them again. I went with the latter.
The first step was to get rid of the toes. The wear at the toes was enough to make unraveling the knitting too difficult.
I wound the yarn onto my niddy noddy into hanks.
While unraveling one sock the yarn got tangled so I ended up with two small hanks and one larger one.
After a wash ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had this yarn for a few months. Sunday I wanted an easy project. I grabbed this ball of Activ and got cranking. I bought this yarn from CSM Supplies
When I want a quick project I go for a colorful yarn and the hung hem. These socks are simple and I love that. I wear this style of sock almost every day. Above, I'm in the process of hanging the hem.
I wanted to compare the ball of yarn (the first photo) to the finished fabric. This is one of the challenges of buying multi-colored yarn. You ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

It is fun to see how different yarns pool when you work with them. This yarn is one a dyed a while back and I had just a little over 50 grams left. I added contrast cuff, heel, and toe. I think they came out great!

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes I go back to a project, tool, or technique and remember why I tried it in the first place. This amazing machine is no exception. Every time I make a pair of socks I am pleased with the process and the results.
These were made using Cascade Yarns Heritage Wave. This fun yarn makes very wearable socks. They full (the stitches plump with washing making a denser fabric) a little bit in the wash so if you want a lighter sock this yarn might not be perfect for you.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

Just a quick update today. I've had a busy workweek and it shows.
I grabbed these two balls of yarn and got stitching on my third Circle and Square hat.
I think these colors are really fun. I hope my family want striped hats for next winter because that's what they're going to get.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

This is my favorite step when making this hat. When you get to cut those worked stitches in half and double up the fabric. This really makes for a delightfully squishy and warm hat.
I am having so much fun with this pattern. It is the perfect knitting while watching television project. What am I watching? Right now we're watching Schitt's Creek.
Another great finished hat. And yes, I have already cast on another one. I still have yarn.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

Remember this little avocado from last week?
Not so small anymore. These really are fun to knit. I wonder if I can make a marled one? Oh, the possibilities!

Circle and Square from Becca's Crazy Projects

This week I finished my second Circle and Square hat.
I ran out of yarn as I neared the finish line so I switched to another self-striping yarn from Knit Picks with brown. It isn't perfect but it is warm.
Then I immediately cast on another one. This start looks like an avocado.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

On the 14th I grabbed these two yarns and made an amazing pair of socks for myself.
I used this delicious pink called Pucker for the cuffs, heels, and toes. The self-striping yarn is called Goth Kitty. Both yarns are from Knit Picks.
These are super-cute and I'm excited about wearing them.

Circle and Square from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been wearing my Circle and Square hat for about a week now. I decided to make another.
This is one of the best television knitting projects. Very little counting and loads and loads of knit stitches.
I am almost to the fun bit of this project. The construction is fun because you work ever increasing rows until you cut that in half and then decrease to the end. I love projects like that!

Circle and Square from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finished my Circle and Square hat! I shared this about a week ago when I started. This is what I would consider the front of this hat.
This is the back. I love working a project that decreases as you get to the finish line. It just seems to pick up speed at the end.
I'm really pleased with how this turned out. It's warm and fun! I'm sure I'll make another one. Mostly because it was an easy knit. Also, I still have yarn.

I knit up another pair using this fun colorway (I think it is called Circus) with contrasting cuff, heels, and toes. Both yarns are from Knit Picks

The contrast parts really make these socks great to me.

Circle and Square from Becca's Crazy Projects

I wanted to try Circle & Square by Martina Behm for a couple reasons. Like Martina, I am not a fan of the purl stitch. Sure, I can do it but if I don't have to do it I am a much happier knitter.
The self-striping yarn is doing most of the work on this one. I may have to make one using an ombre yarn.
This picture makes it look somewhat egg-shaped. That's just how I'm holding it. It really is an oval.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was so ambitious early in the month. I made a new pair of socks on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of January. Then, playtime was over and I went back to work. Last weekend I sat down and cranked out a couple more pairs.
Machine knit socks really are a great way to feel like I've accomplished something. I can sit down for about an hour and have an almost completely finished pair of socks.
I purchased this yarn on a cone from Erbacher Gearhart when I ordered another cylinder for my machine.
When I saw these Knit ...

Time for Cake from Becca's Crazy Projects

I received a bunch of yarn from Aunt Betty last year. I decided I wouldn't use it if I didn't get it wound up into cakes so I could just grab it and get knitting or crocheting. I grabbed my swift and my ball winder and got cranking.
I ran into one snag along the way. Straightening this one out took almost as much time as winding the entire hank into a cake.
When I was done I had all this yarn ready to go. Now when I am inspired I can just grab and cast on. Now ...
